St Ambrose Barlow RC High School

St Ambrose Barlow RC High School

St Ambrose Barlow is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of all students and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We strive to ensure that consistent and effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, pupils and staff at school.  We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. All school staff are trained in Child Protection, and children are made aware of the adults they can talk to if they have any concerns. Staff are trained to look out for signs of physical/emotional harm or neglect and are required to report these to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

The procedures which we follow have been laid down by the Salford Safeguarding Board and the school has adopted a Child Protection Policy in line with this, for the safety of all. On rare occasions our concern about a child may mean that we have to consult other agencies. We will ensure that all concerns are discussed with parent/carers first, before any referrals are made, unless we believe that such a move may be contrary to a child’s welfare.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead is Kath Wright (Associate Assistant Headteacher).

The Designated Person for Looked After Children (LAC) is Kath Wright (Associate Assistant Headteacher).

The Additional Safeguarding Leads are Mike Carroll (Deputy Head Teacher) and Amanda Robb (Head of House).  Early Help Co-ordinator is Hayley Jackson and other staff trained in Safeguarding are Natalie Daniels, Rebecca Tulloch, Peter Paize Lisa Uzoka, Morgan Prady, Erik Merriman, Anna Toon, James Stevenson, Sarah Moynihan, Gemma Greenhalgh, Lauren Frost, Claire Chalk, Nick Irwin and Martin Clancy.

The school adheres to the following three DFE safeguarding documents:

  1. Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 updated 2020
  2. Keeping Children Safe in Education 2020
  3. The Prevent Duty 2015
